Weresax

Weresax virtual instrument is a free sound bank for Sforzando, by Karoryfer.

Weresax is a free alto saxophone sample library for Plogue sforzando. It is open source and royalty free for all use. In addition to the saxophone instrument, it also includes two additional instrument mappings which use the same saxophone samples: an accordion (“saxcordion”) and a subtractive synthesizer (“sxnth”).

General features:

  • Sampled chromatically across the saxophone’s standard range.
  • All controls available in GUI and also mapped to MIDI CC.

  • Requires Plogue sforzando version 1.845 or newer.

Saxophone instrument features:

  • Two round robins and two velocity layers.

Saxcordion instrument features:

  • Dynamics controlled by MIDI CC 1 (mod wheel).
  • Three unison voices with detune and width controls.
  • Attack and release controls.
  • Simple tremolo and vibrato.

Sxnth instrument features:

  • AHDSR envelope.
  • Up to five unison voices with detune and width controls.
  • Simple vibrato.
  • Resonant low-pass filter with LFO and pluck envelope.
  • Resonant high-pass filter.

This brief demo uses the sax instrument, and in the second half the saxcordion as well.
