Mothman Z3000

Mothman Z3000 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman Z3000 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman Z3000 is a 16 voice polyphonic synthesizer that features two Phase Distortion DCOs, two DCWs, and two DCAs. All six feature the famous 8 point envelope section that made the CZ synthesizer so famous.

The Mothman Z3000 also features stereo chorus, noise and LFO just like the original CZ-3000. There’s also an added switchable velocity feature that gives greater expression than the original CZ, and an added analog style filter on DCA2 to give even more sound options. You can also pan the different DCOs to give more stereo fx.

Programming is very similar to the original CZs, the only difference being that on each 8 stage envelope there is a “scale” feature, which acts like a master envelope control to quickly lower or raise the length of the envelope all around without changing each one individually. The original Casio CZ-3000 Manual can be used to understand the concepts behind programming this plug-in.

There are 64 preset slots with 18 presets already created.

Mothman 2000

Mothman 2000 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman 2000 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman 2000 is the commercial version of Justin Robert’s Mothman 1000.

Mothman 2000 combines 3 forms of synthesis to create a unique sounding and easy-to-use software synthesizer. There are two main oscillators, the first is a standard waveform generator that has sine, saw, ramp, triangle, pulse, white noise, and pink noise. The other is a phase distortion oscillator, a technology pioneered by Casio in the 1980s for their unique CZ series of synthesizers that contains two separate waveform generators that each produce saw, square, pulse, double sine, saw-pulse and three resonant waveforms. There are VCFs on each oscillator and VCF1 features a dedicated ADSR section.

The LFOs are actually LFO/HFOs, low and high frequency. The first is connected to the Amp section of OSC1 and the second to the pitch of OSC2. At low oscillation settings they can be use for traditional LFO FX, yet at HFO settings they function as FM operators that can totally change the sound. Using this combination of FM synthesis over top of PD and Analog-style subtractive synthesis makes for some truly unique yet still musical and usable sounds.

Justin says that the logical and intuitive design make it very simple to program even if you don’t know a lot about synthesis. There are also ASDR envelope generator sections for each oscillators output that can allow you to create everything from huge warm pads to more staccato brass and piano sounds.

Upgrades from Mothman 1000 include a stereo digital delay, velocity sensitivity, slick brushed metal skin, improved performance, 64 patch memory slots with 32 added user memory slots, as well as new presets.

Mothman 2000 features 32 built-in presets with 32 user slots for creating your own patches.

Mothman 1966

Mothman 1966 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman 1966 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman 1966 is a two oscillator, two LFO synth that uses standard subtractive synthesis. It has three custom waveforms in the two oscillators – one is a “diamond wave” which was created using FM synthesis and the waveform image resembles a diamond; two is an 8 bit, buzzy and gritty, saw wave; three is a woodwind wave, used to create flutes and other wood instruments. The LFOs can be routed to either of the VCFs or VCAs.

Mothman 1000

Mothman 1000 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman 1000 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman 1000 is a 2 oscillator, 2 LFO, software synth that features a subtractive analog oscillator and a phase distortion oscillator. Both oscillators feature modulating LFO / HFOs (low and high frequency) as well as VCFs for each oscillator; VCF 1 includes an ADSR input section.

The high frequency modulation creates FM synthesis type sounds. Mixing this with the phase distortion and subtractive sounds makes for a lot of possibilities. You can also use the L(H)FOs for standard LFO fx. The L(H)FO on OSC 1 is routed to the amp section of OSC 1 and the L(H)FO of OSC 2 is routed to the modulation depth of OSC 2, playing with this can create very interesting ring modulation and FM type sounds.

There are 32 built in presets that range from warm pads, Casio emulation, metallic craziness, warm analog basses and drums. It also features an oscilloscope, just for fun.

Moselle

Moselle free software-synthesizer by Moselle Synthesizers

Moselle is a free software synthesizer developed by Moselle Synthesizers. Available format(s): for Windows .

Moselle is a software synthesizer that uses the “modular synthesis” paradigm for making music.

The new twist is that rather than connecting modules together with graphical “patch cords,” or editing some sort of schematic “diagram,” you use mathematical formulas, similar to Excel spreadsheets. These can be as simple as “Waveform = Sawtooth” or “Input = Oscillator2:Output”. But they can also be quite complex when you need complexity. (See the videos below, most of which show the entire patch you’re listening to on the screen.) A formula of just a few lines might do what it’d take a screen-full of photo-realistic reproductions of hardware modules to do. The result is that complex patches are far easier to write the first time, and to study and tweak later.

We’ve copied this from the evolution of computer programming. In the 1940s computers used knobs, buttons and patch cords that would be the envy of any synthesist! However, by the 1950s, the bottleneck of computability wasn’t the computer power or the programmers’ creativity, but the means of programming. Moselle makes the same paradigm shift in synthesis today.

Moselle is currently a pre-production release Alpha 5. It is available for free download from our website. It is currently Windows-only though a Mac version is planned. It does not yet run as a plug-in. Instead, it is a stand-alone development environment. Just plug in a MIDI keyboard, turn up your computer speakers, and patch away.

Several dozen videos are available on YouTube, that mostly show how easy it is to get unusual effects that would be nearly impossible on most other synthesizers.

Mormox Imitate

Mormox Imitate free software-synthesizer by easytoolz

Mormox Imitate is a free software synthesizer developed by easytoolz. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mormox Imitate by easytoolz.de is an “Emulation” of a very new hardware-synth from Greece, called “Murmux Initate”. And it has a very “simple” structure at original: 2 Oscillators with 2 waves (Saw and Pulse) with Subosc, Lowpass-Filter, simple LFO, 2 Envelopes (one AD, one ADSR)… that’s all.

My “Emu” has some extra Features, indeed, I have tried to receive the brilliantly easy
structure.

Details:

  • 2 OSC with Saw and Pulse, 2 Octave Tuner-knobs and FM-Modulation (Osc1 > Cutoff).
  • Sub-oscillator (one Octave lower as Osc1) with Pulsewave.
  • Combined Lowpass-Bandpass-Filter with Cutoff and Resonance and ADSR EG.
  • LFO with Rate and Depth Pots for Oscillator or Cutoff Modulations.
  • Special ADSR EG with embedded LFO/Loop (Ramp and S/H waves), the Sustain-pot regulates the intensity. Targets are the Amplifier, Oscillator Tuning or Cutoff .
  • Delay section with Pan-LFO > Glide and > warm Shaper/Overdrive.
  • Monophonic and only 18 Patches at moment, Sorry but my time did not reach for more.

Maybe at an Update after the DC 😉

Update to V 1.1: MIDI Controller inserted.

Update to V 1.11: Little Bug fix (Glide-Poti fixed) and little GUI (Big Potis)

There are 3 Banks with 32 New Patches each available.

from the famous Patchdesigners Kujashi aka Schiffbauer, Subderground, .

ynx and the Original-bank from NEK-X (with some new Patches, too ;-))

MANY THANKS !!
A total of 128 sounds ! Hope You enjoy it ….

Moppeltron

Moppeltron free software-synthesizer by Verklagekasper

Moppeltron is a free software synthesizer developed by Verklagekasper. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Moppeltron employs the Discrete-Summation Formulae (DSF) synthesis technique which has capabilities similar to those of frequency modulation, yet it has the advantage that the number of partials can be exactly specified and also that one-sided spectra can be generated. By morphing between two mixes of DSF parameter sets, Moppeltron is capable of synthesizing a wide variety of sounds and effects.

Features:

  • Two DSF parameter sets defining the partials. Exact specification of the number of partials, the maximum frequency, and all other parameters is possible by using text entry fields. One-sided or two-sided spectra.
  • A morphing unit allowing static mixes of the two DSF parameter sets as well as dynamic warping between two mixes using an ADSR envelope or an LFO.
  • ADSR envelope and a gain for volume control. Embedded piano keyboard control.
  • MIDI control of all parameters. Easy MIDI-CC assignment by MIDI learn function.
  • 16 voice polyphony, or mono. Note sliding. Adjustable pitch bend range.
  • 64 presets.

Mopar

Mopar free software-synthesizer by PQN Audio

Mopar is a free software synthesizer developed by PQN Audio. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mopar is a synth that combines a phase distortion oscillator with a SoundFont oscillator to produce, amongst other sounds, cool pads.

Features:

  • Osc1 has 8 waveforms (saw, square, pulse, double sine, saw-pulse, reso1, reso2 and reso3). These are the waveforms you obtain when the modulation level is at its maximum. At its minimum, the oscillator produces a sine wave. The modulation level can be modulated by a filter and by the LFO.
  • Osc2 has 6 waveforms (choir, brass, accordion, organ, dream and strings).
  • The 2 oscillators share the same amplitude envelope (ADSR) but you can adjust the volume of each oscillator separately.
  • You can also adjust the master volume and the bender range (from 1 to 12 semitones) and the portamento time.
