Samploid2 is a free sampler and software synthesizer VST plugin developed by DUBturbo. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

It’s a multi-Sampler – a rompler – a synth – a sound modeller and more ALL-IN-ONE. Simply choose a folder on your machine with .wav files in it and it will span them up your keyboard. Now you can romp the sounds, pick one to span as its own instrument, add a layer or two of synths to give it some thickness, and you got yourself a dynamic new sound every time.

S.F.U.M. is a free software synthesizer developed by Krakli. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

A Riotous noisemaker, using the host sync feature to scan through a series of 8 amplitude levels and sweep amounts and then mangling the synths waveforms using the Twist control. The Glide Control evens out the pitch changes and the Smooth control takes some of the upper harmonics off. This synth is very much one for the experimenters out there.

Rogue

Rogue is a free software synthesizer developed by Noslogan. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Rogue is a very straight forward, easy to use, VSTi synthesizer that is designed to be smooth and round or harsh and cold (and everything in between). (It replaced Noslogan’s Phobia Station).

Rogue is comprised of 6 sections:

Wave Controls – Select between Saw or Square waveforms. Pitch controls consist of octave, coarse, and fine controls. Unison, mix, and tone controls are also available.

LFO Controls – This is just a standard LFO with various destinations. Rogue’s LFO features a delay, that allows you to “fade-in” the LFO’s effect.

Lowpass Filter Controls – A standard low pass filter with resonance.

Assignable Envelope Controls – The assignable envelope can be routed to nearly any of Rogue’s other controls via its dual destination slots. It also features a unique “Step Mode” that creates varying levels of hard stepping through the envelope’s range.

MIDI/Modulation Controls – Allows you to enable the accent control and envelope retrigger, adjust the accent amount, set the bend range, glide time, and modulation amount/source/destination. Features dual destination slots and enable controls.

Distortion/Master Controls – Rogue’s unique distortion controls and final tone/volume controls.

RMXL

RMXL is a free software synthesizer developed by Krakli. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

RMXL is a re-release of a plug-in previously included as a Computer Music exclusive (it is to all intents and purposes a re-clothed RichmanCM). It is the best Richman synth to date with two totally independent sound sources and a wide variety of patches from electric-himalaya.com.

RMXL uses a hybrid of Physical Modelling and FM synthesis and is designed to be an expressive plug-in. Specializing in plucked or struck tones the Richman synths can also turn their hands to a great many other types of sounds.

Like RichmanCM, RMXL has some special features including the fact that each sound generating ‘line’ is totally independent meaning that they can have their own portamento, Glide or Mono/poly settings. Some of Himalaya’s patches show the mixed Mono & poly mode off to a very good advantage. Other improvements include Envelope modulation of the pre-filters and a much wider tuning range for line two.
