Expand your sound collection with two iconic synthesizers from long, long ago, to create sounds far, far away from the ordinary. The new Spaceport ’77 Collection welcomes two familiar keyboard characters, the OB-1 and CP-30 to give your tracks some ’70s and ’80s sci-fi flavor.

Newly recorded and programmed to take full advantage of all the features of SampleTank 4’s new sound engine, this expansion library adds 100 new instrument presets and 3.9 GB of samples covering two classic analog keyboards. A great complement to both the modern synth sounds and classic electric piano sounds already in SampleTank 4’s library, these new sounds further expand your sonic library.

The Oberheim OB-1 is an early monophonic analog synthesizer released in 1978 with two discrete oscillators and suboscillators, along with a noise generator. A discrete lowpass filter can be either 12dB or 24dB per octave, for both a classic Oberheim 2-pole sound and the legendary Minimoog 4-pole sound. Notable users of the OB-1 were the composer and musician Vince Clarke and the bands Tangerine Dream, Rush, and The Grid.

The Yamaha CP-30 is an electronic piano from 1976 that uses analog synthesis sound generation. The CP-30 has a Decay control knob that can be used to simultaneously adjust attack and decay parameters not unlike those of a regular synthesizer’s ADSR envelope. Two tone-generation systems, each with independent decay control, let users like Herbie Hancock, Fleetwood Mac and The Cars conjure up unique sounds using modern synthesizer techniques.

Sonigen Modular is a modular software synthesizer which combines the freedom and flexibility of classic modular synthesis with the benefits of a modern software implementation. The user interface is quick and intuitive to use while still affording the sound designer great freedom. The audio processing algorithms are of high quality while still being CPU efficient.

Sonigen Modular is fully modular, with as many modules and patch cables as you want.

It combines polyphonic voice and static effect processing in one window. That means you can have multiple MIDI notes playing multiple voices, mix them all down to a single stereo stream and route that through a modular effect chain.

It is fast and intuitive to use, almost everything is done in the main module window. There’s no separate schematic / GUI views, no macro modules, no separate FX window. You can see what is going on just by looking at the main window.

Great sound quality. A huge amount of time has been put into developing high quality algorithms. It has very good aliasing rejection in most cases.

It is CPU efficient. This doesn’t mean corners have been cut. It means hand tuned assembly and run time optimization. The audio processing code is dynamically assembled and optimised in real time as you edit and play.

Sonata

Sonata is a VST soft-synth for strong single-shot leads and pads. The distinctive character of Sonata makes it adept at strings and lots of simple subtractive sounds, while also specializing in sparkly and glassy mallet sounds, deep basses, and warm and rich mid-range chromatic inventions.

Sonata features two separate but similarly controlled generators, one for the sound’s immediate attack and another for the fundamental tone. Both consist of rich harmonic spectra which are filtered to provide desired overtones. Each possesses its own exponential decay envelopes for amplitude and filter, and its own ADSR envelope.

The output from these is then fed into a little black box—a complex setup of delay devices set relatively for each note that creates a complex comb-filtering effect. This stage shapes the sound, emphasizing desired frequencies and providing richer post-filter overtones, similar to the way an instrument’s body will influence its sound.

There are three global effects: a cross delay, distortion, and a reverb.

SnareBuzz is an audio effect plugin that emulates the wires of a snare buzzing when there’s another instrument playing near.

Why do you want to emulate this effect if every engineer in the world has tried to get rid of it? Short: because it’s cool! Long: because it doesn’t exist in the DAW environment, it’s something that we are all familiar with, and if you’re really used to play live with a band it’s weird not hearing it when recording instruments separately.
