TAL-BassLine is a virtual analog bass synthesizer especially made for bass, acid sounds and effects. It’s based on a robust core and has the usual controls of analogue hardware synthesizers. A unique -18dB low pass filter with a lot of asymmetric and random components introduce a warm and analogue sound. Very fast, non linear envelopes are also a part of this synth.

The development team Max Project and CPS have been released their first synthesizer plugin together – Carma. The VST-synth for electronic music includes two different oscillators with eight waveforms each and a FM and Ring modulation option. There are also two LFOs, a flexible matrix section for individual modulations, an arpeggiator, some effects delay, reverb, EQ and a chorus. A filter section with different filter modes like a 303 filter for acid sounds is also been given.

New graphical user interface:
now you can change every single panel’s background color individually in realtime while you have open the plugin inside your DAW.

Main Panel:
now i swapped the filter, filter envelope and also the amp envelope to the main panel instead of the modulations panel for better workflow. The distortion module now is in the effects panel.

New oscillator features:
Drift Mode: every single oscillator now has a “drift” mode. You can add a slight adjustable phase and/or pitch drift to simulate the voltage inaccuracies of a vintage analog synth.

Better envelopes:
Envelope curves for attack, decay and release now can be adjusted from linear to exponential.

Host mode: the sequencer will be synced with the DAW’s sequencer bars
1st Note: the gate sequencer will be triggered by the first played note (e.g. when playing chords).
All Notes: the gate sequencer will be triggered by every new pressed note.

Polyphony settings:
the overall polyphony can be changed manually by the user:
up to 1 – 128 voices

64-bit VST2 and VST3 only for the moment. 32-bit version will come a bit later.

Syntopia is a free software synthesizer developed by Syntopia. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Syntopia is a modular software synthesizer for use with a VST host. DX instrument and stand-alone editions are planned. Emphasis will be put on a functional graphical user interface, and a lot of freedom in the choice of synthesis algorithms/structure.

Syntopia is a C++ project for the Windows platform. Macintosh and Linux versions are a possibility but will require the participation of other programmers.

SynthWiz Simple Synth

SynthWiz Simple Synth is a free software synthesizer developed by Noise Sculpture. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

SynthWiz Simple Synth has been designed to illustrate some of the concepts in the book “Becoming a Synthesizer Wizard: From Presets to Power User” by Simon Cann (published by Course Technology PTR, ISBN: 978-1598635508). The synthesizer is available to download for free (i.e. you don’t need to buy the book to get the synth).

The synthesizer has been specifically designed to be a straightforward synthesizer with a limited set of features (one oscillator, one low-pass filter, one envelope to control the filter cut-off, and one envelope to control the volume). SynthWiz Simple Synth isn’t a synthesizer you are likely to use everyday, instead it has two specific purposes:

First, it is intended as a straightforward synthesizer for anyone looking to get to grip on subtractive synthesis and sound design basics. These principles are demonstrated with this synthesizer in Becoming a Synthesizer Wizard and they can then be applied to any synthesizer.

Second, it is intended for people who want to develop an understanding about modular synthesizers and how to create synthesizers using SynthEdit (SynthWiz Simple Synth was built with SynthEdit and the underlying SynthEdit files are also available for free download). As you would expect, you are walked through the construction of the synthesizer in Becoming a Synthesizer Wizard.
