MQ57

MQ57 free eq by J1000

MQ57 is a free equalizer VST plugin developed by J1000. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

MQ57 is parametric equalizer designed for mastering. It is powerful, but quite easy to use after you understand what each knob and button does, so learning curve should be very mild for everyone who grasps basic principles of equalization. The main difference from other EQs is that MQ57 has all controls and functions optimized for mastering needs – it has relatively wide Q factors that focus on overall balance rather than narrow cuts and boosts, moderate gain ranges for fine-tuning and low and high-cut filters that tame spectrum extremes. There is no hidden processing going on beyond what you dial in – what you set is what you get:

  • 7 fully parametric minimum-phase filters per channel: 5 of them are peak, 2 are shelf.
  • 2 additional cut filters per channel with two selectable slopes.
  • Separated or linked Mid/Side operation for each filter.
  • Functions and ranges optimized for subtle mastering equalization tasks.
  • Band-pass frequency monitoring for 5 peak filters.
  • 32-bit internal precision with zero latency and reasonable CPU consumption.
  • No introduced harmonic or dynamic distortion.

MQ55

MQ55 free eq by J1000

MQ55 is a free equalizer VST plugin developed by J1000. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

MQ55 is parametric equalizer designed for mixing stage. It is based on MQ57 and shares most of it’s functions. Main difference is that MQ55 doesn’t support separate channel processing, i.e, it only works in standard stereo mode. Other differences are: 1) cut filters have much greater operating ranges and milder slopes; 2) maximum filter gain is increased in default state (±9dB); 3) ratio control to boost or reduce overall equalization curve:

  • 7 parametric minimum-phase stereo filters, 5 of them are peak, 2 are shelf.
  • LCF and HCF filters with two selectable slopes (1st/2nd order for LCF, 2nd /3rd for HCF filter).
  • Ratio knob that serves as a overall gain multiplier.
  • Band-pass frequency monitoring for each peak filter.
  • 32-bit internal precision with zero latency and low CPU consumption.
  • No introduced harmonic or dynamic distortion.

MP-1 is a free software synthesizer for Reaktor, developed by Multiples Pro. Available format(s): for Windows, macOS.

We have gone ahead and updated one of our other synthesisers in MPBASIC, to the MP-1.

The synthesizer is broken down into 4 main sections:

  • Oscillators – choice of 8, Multi-OSC from the original synth, Sin/Tri, Sin/Saw and Sin/Squ.
  • Filters – 3 in total, 4-pole, Comb and Formant varieties.
  • Distortion – 1 distorted filter and 1 waveshaper.
  • FX – 1 compressor and 1 chorus.

Due to the semi-modular capability of the synthesizer you can choose which of these to use, opening up a wealth of possibilities within sound design.

Motile

Motile free multi-fx | distortion | flanger | phaser | chorus | reverb | delay | glitch by NOVUZEIT

Motile is a free multi fx and distortion and flanger and phaser and chorus and reverb and delay and glitch VST plugin developed by NOVUZEIT. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Motile is designed to aid in the creation of extreme experimental music and idiosyncratic sound design.

Motile consists of many different FX types primarily designed towards “FSU”, including Glitch, Psycho-modulation, Metallicize, Granulation, and more. All of these FX types are controlled from within Motile’s interface by direct mouse control of each effect via an XY grid that allows “dynamic transvolving sounds for each”. The XY movement of each FX unit can also be automated fully using various waveform selections and throttle controls. A combination of human mouse movement and computer aided automation for each effect is possible as well.

Also included is the FX Cycle system, allowing each FX type to be randomly turned on and off in realtime. MIDI CC support for all pertinent parameters is included. Motile’s entire control scheme is fully tool-tipped for ease of use.

The full version of Motile includes over 60 presets, a HTML user reference manual, and a printable MIDI CC control listing.

Mothman Z3000

Mothman Z3000 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman Z3000 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman Z3000 is a 16 voice polyphonic synthesizer that features two Phase Distortion DCOs, two DCWs, and two DCAs. All six feature the famous 8 point envelope section that made the CZ synthesizer so famous.

The Mothman Z3000 also features stereo chorus, noise and LFO just like the original CZ-3000. There’s also an added switchable velocity feature that gives greater expression than the original CZ, and an added analog style filter on DCA2 to give even more sound options. You can also pan the different DCOs to give more stereo fx.

Programming is very similar to the original CZs, the only difference being that on each 8 stage envelope there is a “scale” feature, which acts like a master envelope control to quickly lower or raise the length of the envelope all around without changing each one individually. The original Casio CZ-3000 Manual can be used to understand the concepts behind programming this plug-in.

There are 64 preset slots with 18 presets already created.

Mothman 2000

Mothman 2000 free software-synthesizer by Demonic Sweaters

Mothman 2000 is a free software synthesizer developed by Demonic Sweaters. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Mothman 2000 is the commercial version of Justin Robert’s Mothman 1000.

Mothman 2000 combines 3 forms of synthesis to create a unique sounding and easy-to-use software synthesizer. There are two main oscillators, the first is a standard waveform generator that has sine, saw, ramp, triangle, pulse, white noise, and pink noise. The other is a phase distortion oscillator, a technology pioneered by Casio in the 1980s for their unique CZ series of synthesizers that contains two separate waveform generators that each produce saw, square, pulse, double sine, saw-pulse and three resonant waveforms. There are VCFs on each oscillator and VCF1 features a dedicated ADSR section.

The LFOs are actually LFO/HFOs, low and high frequency. The first is connected to the Amp section of OSC1 and the second to the pitch of OSC2. At low oscillation settings they can be use for traditional LFO FX, yet at HFO settings they function as FM operators that can totally change the sound. Using this combination of FM synthesis over top of PD and Analog-style subtractive synthesis makes for some truly unique yet still musical and usable sounds.

Justin says that the logical and intuitive design make it very simple to program even if you don’t know a lot about synthesis. There are also ASDR envelope generator sections for each oscillators output that can allow you to create everything from huge warm pads to more staccato brass and piano sounds.

Upgrades from Mothman 1000 include a stereo digital delay, velocity sensitivity, slick brushed metal skin, improved performance, 64 patch memory slots with 32 added user memory slots, as well as new presets.

Mothman 2000 features 32 built-in presets with 32 user slots for creating your own patches.
