Quadropolis

Quadropolis is a free stereo imaging VST plugin developed by Christian Budde. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

The Quadropolis Surround-Plugin is a VST effect Plugin dedicated to Quadraphonic Music. There was a lot of research on Quadraphonics back in the early 70s.

This Plugin simulates an anechoic chamber with 4 loudspeakers in it (starting from 45° in 90° steps). Within the soundfield there is – of course – the listeners head, which is simulated with a 512 Tap HRTF-Convolver (FIR-Filter). This causes high CPU-Load (about 50% @2GHz, but improvements are on the way).

The plugin gives you the ability to mix your quadraphonic music, without using 4 loudspeakers. Only Headphones are needed. Just put the plugin (with 4 Inputs and 2 Outputs) at the end of the mixing chain and enjoy panning the music around.

Quad Zamp

Quad Zamp is a free drum sampler VST plugin developed by Les Productions Zvon. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Quad Zamp consists of four ‘Zamp’ style multi wav players, 12 wavplayers in total. It shares most of the features of Zamp including the randomizers.

Main Features:

Can load and play up to 12 samples simultaneously.

1 amplitude envelope and 1 pitch envelope for each sample.

Each sample has its own tuning, start and end points, loop, reverse, volume and panning controls.

QB3

QB3 is a free equalizer VST plugin developed by de la Mancha. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

QB3 is a vintage-style, 3-band EQ plug-in, with its own unique colouring and a few tricks up its sleeve. For each band you can adjust the centre frequency and gain. For the low and high shelving bands you can adjust the steepness of the slope, whilst for the mid peaking band you can adjust the bandwidth. This allows a range of sounds from steep, sharp cuts to smooth and gentle boosts.

But the “Queen Bee” is not a super clean and transparent plug-in. QB-3 features a pleasing combination of harmonics, saturation and low level noise to bring a subtle mojo to your sound. You also have the option to switch on a 40Hz cut to boost your low frequency headroom and a limiter to curb any peaks.

q2midi is a free studio tools VST plugin developed by xoxos. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

q2midi is a ‘note generator’ – when any gate signal is received, an algorithmic sequence set to key and rhythmic specifications is output along your MIDI chain. The q-engine is the same as employed in xoxos q-series VST instruments, now applicable to any instrument.

Two more ‘layers’ of randomization are ‘nested’ around the gate and pitch generators for creating complex patterns that repeat or transpose motifs, or don’t. q2midi also includes a separate assignable CC# control in addition to gate, pitch and velocity output.
