Rack

Rack is a free software synthesizer developed by VCV. Available format(s): for Windows, macOS.

VCV Rack is the engine powering VCV modules. Add modules, connect cables, edit parameters, and save/load patches. Create generative patches with your mouse, perform with your MIDI keyboard controller, or connect it to your favorite DAW using the VCV Bridge VST/AU plugin (coming soon).

In Rack, control voltages and audio signals are equivalent, so you can modulate parameters with sonic-range VCOs to create customizable FM synths or chaotic wave-shaping oscillators. If you already own a modular synthesizer, you can enhance your setup with an audio interface or a CV-MIDI-CV interface module with Rack’s CV Interface (coming soon).

R-Sample Factor is a free bit crusher VST plugin developed by Synthescience. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

The R-Sample Factor is a combined Sample Rate and Bit depth reduction plugin. It’s not at all a sound enhancement processor but rather the opposite. It is aimed at recapturing the essence from the old days of early digital sound processing units and does it on demand.

Packed with lots of “Grain” and “Grit” inside, you decide just how much to use.

The R-Sample Factor is fully automatable and has the ability to store 128 presets.

It ships with a few already pre programmed ones that will show what its all about and may be the starting point to your individual creations.

qWarpFilter

qWarpFilter is a free filter VST plugin developed by Mutagene. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

qWarpFilter allows the user to perform a warped LP analysis of the input signal for each of four independent filter banks, where after the user can warp between all four filters using the XY touchpad control or use the ‘filter warp’ slider to change the warping in the filtering stage.

The results tend towards bellish sounds or weird sleeping sounds reminiscent of the EMU Morpheus’ filters.
