“A window to Europe” is a hybrid of two basic models of a family of “color” synthesizers “Green” and “Grey” with the scheme of other synthesizer under the name “Dancing Partner”. In this model soft sounds for music of style of New Age and active rhythms are combined.

80s EP FM Free virtual instrument is a free keyboard sound bank for Kontakt, by Tangent Edge Instruments.

The 80s EPs are virtual versions of 4 iconic 80s EP sounds from the Yamaha DX7 Mark II, each counting two times 1144 24-bit/48kHz samples for the Pro versions. 88 keys sampled in 12 velocity layers. The 140 versions have 140 samples. The 80s EP FM 140 is Free!
There are three more of them: 80s EP Bright, Classic, and Warm.

No software emulation beats the expressiveness and bite of the real thing. I played around two thousand EP presets, customized 32 of my favourites on my TX802/DX7II and then sampled 4 like all the virtual Wurlitzers and Rhodes out there: extremely detailed and programmed to behave exactly like the original.

“FM” is based on the popular FM Roads preset.

In the demo below you can hear the same MIDI file rendered by by TX802 module, the Pro versions Pure and Coloured, the 140 version and finally FM8 using the same preset.
Check out the demo of the Classic Pro too so you can hear what the instrument is capable of, it has the same engine.

Requires the full version of Kontakt 3.5 or higher. The 80s EPs will only work for 30 minutes in the free Kontakt Player.

5ORCERY is a free compressor VST plugin developed by platinumears. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

5ORCERY is a “meta-multi-band” compressor using dynamic EQ.

5ORCERY takes a different approach to multi-band compression: the signal is still split into separate bands using cross-over filters, and these still feed the side-chains of separate compressors, but the filtered signals are not mixed back together again. Instead the gain modulation signals from all five compressors are matrixed into modulation signals for 4 dynamic shelving filters plus a gain stage.

To put it another way: while this plug-in behaves like a multi-band compressor, and allows you to solve many of the same problems, it is in actual fact a constantly changing 4-band equaliser, and when it isn’t doing anything, it really isn’t doing anything.

platinumears has dubbed this approach “meta-multiband compression”: all the benefits of a multi-band with none of the usual side effects. Use it wherever you like, on channels, sub-groups or mixes.

This limiter is not necessarily transparent, but it’s relatively clean anyway. It might not be the ideal master limiter, but the short look-ahead makes it usable for live situations. It comes with dual metering (peak and RMS) and integrated dither.
