Diode-108 Drum Machine Free

Diode-108 Drum Machine Free free drum-machine | sequencer by Vibrant Digital Engineering

Diode-108 Drum Machine Free is a free drum machine and sequencer plugin developed by Vibrant Digital Engineering. Compatible OS(s): macOS.

Diode-108 is the drum machine you’ve been waiting for. It’s packed with a variety of built-in vintage, classic, and acoustic kits, but you can easily mix and match the samples provided to make your own custom kits. Or import wav files for even more variety. Once you’ve built your groove, DIODE-108’s drag-and-drop beat effects make it fun and easy to create beats you’ve never heard before.

This free version is fully usable, with no ads and no timeouts, but it lacks save and export options compared to the full version.

Features:

  • Drag and drop effects let you put effects on individual beats.
  • Drum kits licensed from respected partners. Dubsounds, Samples From Mars, Orange Tree Samples, and 99Sounds.
  • 16 drum voices with unlimited patterns that you can arrange into your own songs.
  • Each pattern can have its own swing and tempo multiplier.
  • Every voice has PER BEAT control of pan, volume, tone, pitch, decay, compression, and distortion, delay, and reverb.
  • Turn NOTE MODE on for any voice and control the musical note (up or down an octave from the original pitch). Great for basslines or pitched percussion.
  • Mix and Match kits (easily substitute any sample in any kit). Want an 808 kick in a 909 kit? No problem.
  • See the Diode-108 in action in this {See video at top of page}.
  • MIDI sync.
  • MIDI Note In.

Sequencer
Build your beat on a 16×16 pattern grid. 16 voices is almost twice the number of voices of some of our competitors, and it means that you can have an 808 kit with all the instruments you’re looking for (not just some of them). Set tempo and swing. Several time signatures are supported (and each pattern can have its own).

Pads
Tap your beat on our 4 by 4 array of drum pads. Record into the active pattern, or just play along.

Drum Machine
Unprecedented control over your drum kit. Dial in the settings you want, mix and match samples from different kits, and save out your modified custom kits for use in any song. How much control do you have? An amazing 7 dials for each of the 16 drum voices.

FX
Diode-108’s crown jewel is its drag-and-drop beat FX. Want a reverse cowbell? Want a bitcrushed tom? Want a cymbal that performs a pitch dive across several beats? Just drag and drop the effect tokens onto beats, and drag them left and right to cover any beats you like. Turn a long-lasting cymbal into a rhythmic backbone. You have to hear it to believe it. Head over to our SoundCloud playlist for sample songs.

Song
Build up a collection of named patterns from scratch, or import selected patterns from existing songs. Then drag and drop the patterns to build up a song. Each pattern can have its own swing setting and tempo multiplier if you like.

Dexed

Dexed free software-synthesizer by Digital Suburban

Dexed is a free software synthesizer developed by Digital Suburban. Available format(s): VST, Audio Unit for Windows 64b, macOS.

Dexed is a multi platform, multi format plugin synth that is closely modeled on the Yamaha DX7. Under the hood it uses music-synthesizer-for-android for the synth engine.

The goal of this project is to be a tool/companion for the original DX7. Sound engine with ‘float’ value parameters, different waveform à la TX81z would be great but anything that goes beyond the DX7 should and will be a fork of this project. This is to keep the compatibility with the original machine.

Dexed is licensed on the GPL v3.

Features:

  • Multi platform (OS X, Windows or Linux) and multi format (VST, AU, LV2).
  • The sound engine music-synthesizer-for-android is closely modeled on the original DX7 characteristics.
  • 144 DAW automatable DX7 parameters available from one single panel.
  • Fully supports DX7 input and output Sysex messages; including controller change. This means that you can use this with a native DX7/TX7 as a patch editor and SysEx manager.
  • Each operator have a realtime VU meter to know which one is active.
  • Can load/save any DX7/TX7 SysEx programs. It is also possible to save a single program into a different SysEx file.

Version 0.9.4:

  • Standalone application version of Dexed.
  • Midi learn support for MIDI CC messages.
  • More accurate detune for operators.
  • More accurate EG envelopes.

  • Support for incoming parameter change messages.
  • More permissive on cartridge sysex type; the validation is now done on size (4104/4096 bytes).
  • Midi ‘All Note Off; 0x7B’ support.
  • Breakpoint values are now shown as notes. thanks @tico-tico.
  • Fixed op feedback calibrated for Mark I engine.
  • Fixed for breakpoint levels. thanks @Sentinel77.
  • Fixed LFO delay issue issues upon large values.
  • Fixed for receiving sysex cartridge. thanks @Sentinel77.
  • Fixed operator switch changes are now sent via sysex.

Version 0.9.2:

  • Added operator mute switch.
  • Added Tune (MASTER TUNE ADJ) knob.
  • Correct feedback implementation for Algo 4 and 6.
  • Single click program select.
  • Fix SysEx issue with wrong machine ID.
  • Fix for parameter hosts values.

Version 0.9.1:

  • Mark I engine now uses 10-bit sine/exp tables. Still a work in progress but we are getting there.
  • More accurate FM feedback on the Mark I and OPL Series engine.
  • Wheel, Foot, Breath, Aftertouch modulation support.
  • Fixed the display of some more ‘complex’ algorithms.
  • Drop of .syx files in the cartridge manager.
  • Dexed data directory can now optionally reside in the same location where the binary is installed.

Desk

ZynAddSubFX free software-synthesizer by paulnasca 2

Desk is a free console emulation VST, Audio Unit plugin developed by Airwindows. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

Desk takes the original ‘Desk’ plugins to a new level. Unique modes of analog overload give the ultimate dial-a-warm. The ultimate Airwindows saturation yet, and 96K ready.

Desk3 works really well as two things- as a ‘generic analog console sound’ with a really slick fat overdrive that can run 96K where BussColors can’t, and as a ‘internal mixer stage’. If you wanted to take BussColors (which already imitates a large format analog console exactly) and say, now let us model the wiring harness or longer mic cables or lower the power to the whole console, Desk3 is capable of making those kinds of adjustments, either on the 2-buss or on individual channels or busses (including busses you weren’t including BussColors instances on).

The Overdrive control is what you’d think it is, but Airwindows style—articulate and fluid beyond what most software can do, thanks to the very latest generation of anti-aliasing algorithms. Push it to see what the tone is, then dial it back to use as a subtle enhancement. There is no ‘clip point’ to it, it’s one continuous curve whatever the setting, so don’t go too saturated by mistake expecting to hear a clipping edge appear—it won’t.

The Hi Choke control is unique to Desk3. Go ahead and push it, but you’ll be happiest if you keep this one subtle too. It breaks up in a really unusual way that might be good on snares, but it too is best used as a subtle tone shaper, as the original Desk plugins used it. It’s just that now you can abuse it if you wanted.

Power Sag has two controls, Power Sag and Frequency. You can crank Power Sag to the max to hear where it’s hitting, but then back it off to add dimension and articulation to your sounds in many interesting ways. It basically acts like an analog power supply crapping out, but over a range broader than you’d ever see in real analog gear. Very low values give the SSL haze, very high values do things to the bass. Experimenting is the key here, and you can always keep it extreme if you hit on something that really works:)

Delay

Delay free delay by kiloHearts

Delay is a free delay VST, Audio Unit, AAX plugin developed by kiloHearts. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

Delay can be run both free running and tempo synced with various stereo and feedback options. Most notable however is the duck feature, which optionally only lets the echoed sound through when there is no dry input signal. This allows for long and heavy delay while still avoiding clutter over the original sound:

  • Delay display – The amount of time beore the delayed sound starts playing. This will be expressed in milliseconds or as parts of a beat, depending on Sync Mode.
  • Sync Mode – When sync is enabled the delay time will be synchronized to the song tempo.
  • Feedback knob – The feedback setting will cause the delayed sound to feed back into the delay. This will create an exponentially decaying echo.
  • Pan knob – Adjust the panning of the delayed sound.
  • Ping-Pong – Swaps the left and the right channel of the delayed sound when it is fed back into the delay. When combined with panning this will make the echo bounce back and forth between the speakers.
  • Duck knob – When duck is turned up, the output volume from the delay will automatically be lowered when the input volume is high.
  • Mix knob – The dry/wet mix of this effect. A lower value will let some of the unmodified signal through.
  • Settings panel – Whenever you have your mouse cursor over a snapin theree is a small arrow at the top right corner (not visible in screenshot). It opens a settings panel where you handle presets.
  • Enabled checkbox – The small checkbox to the left of the plugin name is a checkbox that bypasses the effect when disabled.
  • Resize handle – The bottom right corner of all Kilohearts plugins is a resize handle for scaling the UI to any size. This allows you to get a good view of the controls whatever the screen resolution, and also comes in handy if you need big controls, e.g. when using Delay as a real-time effect on a touchscreen monitor during a live set. (This is not available when the snapin is used inside a snapin host.).

Delay shines on it’s own, but it was primarily created to power up the different “Snapin Hosts” Kilohearts offer. These are bigger effects units that utilize all the available snapins and give you a really fun and creative workflow for combining them in any way you can think of. So have a look at Snap Heap and Multipass right now.

Delay is also available as a Rack Extension for Reason over at the Propellerhead shop.
