SpectrumAnalyzer

SpectrumAnalyzer free spectrum-analyzer by SIR Audio Tools

SpectrumAnalyzer is a free spectrum analyzer VST, VST3, Audio Unit, AAX plugin developed by SIR Audio Tools. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

SpectrumAnalyzer is a spectrum analyzer plugin that offers a lot of opportunities to display the spectral content of your audio material, which helps you create a better mix. SpectrumAnalyzer comes in two editions, a free and a full version.

SpectrumAnalyzer has a FFT (Fast-Fourier-Transform) and an analog-style (parallel band-pass IIR filter) engine, both of which can run simultaneously. So you can benefit from the more accurate time resolution of the band-pass filters and the better frequency resolution of the FFT at the same time. Check out the intelligent peak-detection, which automatically detects resonant frequency peaks in the signal. Use the snapshot function to easily save the current state of your analyzer, so you can compare the spectral profile of your current project with other songs. SpectrumAnalyzer also includes a VU-Meter (with peak and RMS measurement) and a Stereo Correlation Meter.

SpectrumAnalyzer features an auxiliary feature that makes it possible to send audio from one SpectrumAnalyzer instance into other instances. This is a quite powerful tool, because you can set up as much aux-sends as you want, and then you can easily switch between them as input source. For example, you have different subgroups and want to see the spectrum of all of them in one SpectrumAnalyzer instance: put a single SpectrumAnalyzer instance on every track and activate the aux-send. Now you can comfortably switch between these aux-channels in your master SpectrumAnalyzer instance. In the full version, you can open up to 4 slots in one plugin instance.

SpectrumAnalyzer has nearly endless adjustment possibilities. To name a few: FFT-Size & Window. Number of Bands/Filter-Steepness and Bandwidth (analog style bandpass analyzer). Time Resolution & Release speed. Optional Peak Hold and intelligent Peak Detection. Spectral RMS with adjustable integration. Mid and Side Signal detection. Adjustable Colors, two different spectral smoothing algorithms. Display Range and Slope/dB. Adjustable GUI size and scaling. Optional gradient and shadow effects.

Spaceship Delay

Spaceship Delay free delay by Musical Entropy

Spaceship Delay is a free delay VST, Audio Unit, AAX plugin developed by Musical Entropy. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

Spaceship Delay is a delay audio effect featuring classic modern and vintage sounding delays, with the following features:

  • Three delay modes: single, ping pong and dual / stereo.
  • Standard delay effects controls such as the delay time in ms and in time subdivisions, the feedback (up to 110 % !), a tap tempo button etc.
  • A modulation section acting on the delay times and the filter cutoff frequencies.
  • An attack control allowing the user to feed the delay line only when the input volume is higher than a given threshold.
  • A spring reverb modeled from a famous tape machine (not that one, another one).
  • An advanced filtering section including standard lowpass and highpass filters, shelf filters, and the simulation of two famous synthesizer filters (not these ones either, other ones).
  • A specific “modeling” section giving access to different kind of delay line and saturation colourations, featuring a bitcrusher and a tube preamp simulation.
  • A “Freeze” switch which can be used for some creative effect or to transform the effect into a looper with high delay values.
  • Post effects such as extra filters, a tremolo and a vintage phaser

It can be used as a typical delay for mixing vocals, adding some depth to drums, guitars, synth sounds, but also as a more creative effect, thanks to the attack control, even as a looper thanks to the freeze switch and the very long maximum delay sizes.

Spaceship Delay includes finally a few presets and an embedded tutorial feature, available from the about tab (by clicking on the logo in the user interface) where you can learn how to use properly the plug-in, with live tutorials, and how to do some classic delay tricks like doubling vocals, slapback rockabilly guitars, ambient sounds etc.

Spaceship Delay is free and available on VST, AU and AAX formats (32/64-bits, Windows & Mac OS X).

SpacePort ’77 for SampleTank 4

SpacePort '77 for SampleTank 4 free software-synthesizer by IK Multimedia

SpacePort 77 for SampleTank 4 is a free software synthesizer developed by IK Multimedia. Available format(s): VST, VST3, Audio Unit, AAX for Windows 64b, macOS.

Expand your sound collection with two iconic synthesizers from long, long ago, to create sounds far, far away from the ordinary. The new Spaceport ’77 Collection welcomes two familiar keyboard characters, the OB-1 and CP-30 to give your tracks some ’70s and ’80s sci-fi flavor.

Newly recorded and programmed to take full advantage of all the features of SampleTank 4’s new sound engine, this expansion library adds 100 new instrument presets and 3.9 GB of samples covering two classic analog keyboards. A great complement to both the modern synth sounds and classic electric piano sounds already in SampleTank 4’s library, these new sounds further expand your sonic library.

The Oberheim OB-1 is an early monophonic analog synthesizer released in 1978 with two discrete oscillators and suboscillators, along with a noise generator. A discrete lowpass filter can be either 12dB or 24dB per octave, for both a classic Oberheim 2-pole sound and the legendary Minimoog 4-pole sound. Notable users of the OB-1 were the composer and musician Vince Clarke and the bands Tangerine Dream, Rush, and The Grid.

The Yamaha CP-30 is an electronic piano from 1976 that uses analog synthesis sound generation. The CP-30 has a Decay control knob that can be used to simultaneously adjust attack and decay parameters not unlike those of a regular synthesizer’s ADSR envelope. Two tone-generation systems, each with independent decay control, let users like Herbie Hancock, Fleetwood Mac and The Cars conjure up unique sounds using modern synthesizer techniques.

SPECS:

  • Over 3.9 GB of content.
  • 100 new instruments.
  • Sci-fi inspired analog keyboard sounds.
  • Free for SampleTank 4 users for a limited time.

Soundor

Soundor free soundbank by Percussa

Soundor virtual instrument is a free sound bank for Max, by Percussa.

Soundor is a free and open source FM Synthesizer for Max for Live, the visual programming environment in Ableton Live based on Cycling 74’s Max/MSP. Soundor is available as a free download from the Percussa website, and allows users to explore FM Synthesis using hand and finger gestures, through AudioCubes’ high speed and low latency sensors, requiring no MIDI mapping or programming.

Soundor features 4 oscillators each with their own waveform mixers, allowing the user to mix sine, square, sawtooth, triangle and noise waveforms to create totally new kinds of waveforms. Each oscillator section also features a state variable filter (SVF), and can modulate any other oscillator in pitch and/or amplitude. Each oscillator’s output can also be sent via its own ADSR to a master out, for lots of sound possibilities. Oscillators can overdrive each other through the built in waveform mixer, and can be controlled through the MIDI Keyboard as well as manual settings.

Soundor integrates seamlessly with AudioCubes: rather than having to MIDI map the AudioCubes onto parameters in Soundor, the moment an AudioCube is plugged in, it is automatically connected to any of the waveform mixer parameters and filter sections, through an easy to use connection matrix in the synthesizer. The 4 high speed low latency sensors of AudioCubes can control multiple parameters simultaneously and can even be inverted. A pedal input allows the user to keep the sensors values in place, while the hands are near the sensor, allowing exploration of the parameter space of the FM synthesizer while at the same time allowing rigid locking of parameters to keep the sound steady once an interesting combination of parameters has been found. Soundor supports the well known preset system of Ableton Live and Max4Live, so presets can be saved and recalled just as for other Max4Live devices.

Soundor is free and open source (creative commons, non-commercial, attribution, share-alike). Percussa encourages users to download the synthesizer and to come up with their own versions and modifications.
