80s EP FM Free

80s EP FM Free virtual instrument is a free keyboard sound bank for Kontakt, by Tangent Edge Instruments.

The 80s EPs are virtual versions of 4 iconic 80s EP sounds from the Yamaha DX7 Mark II, each counting two times 1144 24-bit/48kHz samples for the Pro versions. 88 keys sampled in 12 velocity layers. The 140 versions have 140 samples. The 80s EP FM 140 is Free!
There are three more of them: 80s EP Bright, Classic, and Warm.

No software emulation beats the expressiveness and bite of the real thing. I played around two thousand EP presets, customized 32 of my favourites on my TX802/DX7II and then sampled 4 like all the virtual Wurlitzers and Rhodes out there: extremely detailed and programmed to behave exactly like the original.

“FM” is based on the popular FM Roads preset.

In the demo below you can hear the same MIDI file rendered by by TX802 module, the Pro versions Pure and Coloured, the 140 version and finally FM8 using the same preset.
Check out the demo of the Classic Pro too so you can hear what the instrument is capable of, it has the same engine.

2WarpDelay

2WarpDelay is a free delay and echo VST, Audio Unit plugin developed by Mutagene. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

2WarpDelay pairs two warped-lattice IIR filters with a pair of delay lines and a bitmap which it scans to extract filter coefficients.

A stereo signal is fed through two delay lines followed by a warped IIR lattice filter. The lattice filter can be of any order from 1 to 80 and uses reflection coefficients extracted from an image. This output is fed through a saturation stage and a ducking / limiting stage before being fed back, again, into the delay lines. The lattice filter is warped, and by adjusting the warping parameter its frequency response can be easily adjusted.

Resonance controls the distance between spectral peaks and spectral valleys in the filter transfer function, and cutoff controls the cutoff of a first-order low pass filter that follows the lattice filter.

2RuleFilter is a free filter VST plugin developed by 2Rule. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

2RuleFilter is a self-resonant moog type filter that allows the filter cut-off frequency to be controlled manually, by LFO, or by an envelope follower. It has a interesting feature called “scrambler” that plays filtered signal randomly depending on the selected beat. The “mix” knob mixes wet and dry signals, The “volume” knob is for setting the output volume level. The”Bit Crusher” produces hard sound. Using its scramble feature you can maintain the rhythmic, choppy, buffered and tempo sync output.

As an introduction to everyone in the KVR community, we’re giving away this free and rather useful plug–in. Available for all major plug-in formats, including VST2/VST3 and AAX for MacOS and Windows plus AU for Mac OS, 2BusControl offers five essential options for specialized monitoring modes plus highly responsive and user-friendly metering for left/right balance and correlation.

Solo is available post-metering with a single button push. Traditional left/right soloing (as phantom center) can be chosen, or the equally useful MONO/DIFF (erence) or M/S (Mid/Side) rendering of the soloed signal.
