Equalope

Equalope free envelope-shaper by RunBeerRun

Equalope is a free envelope shaper VST plugin developed by RunBeerRun. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Equalope is a MIDI effect that outputs control change in the form of an envelope, a sequence, or a random range. It can be triggered by MIDI or audio input (internal or external sidechain).

It could be used to turn a filter into an auto wah, or any weird automation you want.

Dust Bucket

Dust Bucket free chorus by Signaldust

Dust Bucket is a free chorus VST plugin developed by Signaldust. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Dust Bucket is an experimental dual-path stereo chorus, also capable of rudimentary “thru-zero” flanging and other simple modulation effects. Like a bucket-brigade device, it uses fixed length delays with modulated sample-rate. It does not attempt to be a circuit model however; the delays are true stereo and it is designed for clean sound without any non-linear behavior.

It should take automation of most parameters reasonably well. A fairly fast CPU is recommended.

DtBlkFx

DtBlkFx free multi-fx | eq | filter | vocoder | pitch-shifter | delay | distortion | flanger | phaser by Darrell Tam

DtBlkFx is a free multi fx and eq and filter and vocoder and pitch shifter and delay and distortion and flanger and phaser VST plugin developed by Darrell Tam. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

DtBlkFx is a Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT) spectral processing plug-in.

Features:

Precision parametric equalizing with sharp-roll off:

  • Set the frequencies so accurately that you can adjust individual harmonics of a sound.
  • Frequency resolutions of up to 0.7 Hz.

Harmonic based (or comb) filtering:

  • Set a fundamental frequency and adjust the level of it and its harmonics – you can even remove the pitched component of a voice.
  • Active harmonic tracking – let DtBlkFx automatically track a sound and adjust the level of its harmonics.

Various types of noise control:

  • Change the “contrast” between loud and soft frequency components.
  • Adjust only those frequencies below or above a particular threshold.
  • Clip frequencies above a particular threshold.
  • Sound smearing (phase randomizing).

Frequency shifting:

  • Harmonic shifting by a fixed number of notes.
  • Non-harmonic shifting by a fixed frequency.
  • Active harmonic repitch – the content of your sound is monitored and re-pitched to a destination note.

Vocoding:

  • Standard (frequency enveloping) – make your trumpet rap, string section sing or synthesizer talk.
  • Harmonic based – harmonics in one channel are power-matched to those in the other (or some predefined waveforms) for a new vocoding sound.

Frequency masking:

  • A harmonic or threshold mask may be set for any effect (apart from vocoding) – for example only shift frequencies that are below the threshold.

Realtime spectrogram (waterfall) display of input and output sounds:

  • See what frequency components are in your sound and exactly what you’ve done.
  • Use your mouse to see the note & frequency under the pointer.

You can select up to 4 of the above effects to be run in series – combining the effects in this way allows you to make completely new and surprising sounds.

DtBlkFx is freely distributable and is covered by the terms of the GNU licensing agreement. Source code is included.

DiTone

DiTone free multi-fx | tremolo | vibrato | panner | chorus | flanger by Music Unfolding

DiTone is a free multi fx and tremolo and vibrato and panner and chorus and flanger Audio Unit plugin developed by Music Unfolding. Compatible OS(s): macOS.

DiTone splits your input signal into two separate streams. An independent effect is applied to each stream. Then the dry input signal can be mixed into each stream independently. One stream is lowpass filtered and the other is highpass filtered. The two filters are designed to overlap in a nice musical fashion. Finally, the two streams are mixed back together with independent volume controls.

DiTone has a variety of effects available including tremolo, vibrato, panning, chorus, and flanger. Altogether, you can choose between twelve different types of effects for each stream and set the parameters independently for each. This gives you a huge array of possible sounds from which you can create interesting and unique modulation effects.

CromFX

CromFX free multi-fx | chorus | delay | phaser by WOK

CromFX is a free multi fx and chorus and delay and phaser VST plugin developed by WOK. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

CromFX is a vintage-style effect plug-in with different chorus, phaser and delay models.

CromFX features 4 chorus variations, modelled after vintage circuits, 3 phaser types and the choice between 2 delays with host sync, of which one is simulating a tape delay.

The multi-chorus unit delivers lush and deep modulation sounds. The deep phaser effect and the delay can be added to accomplish the vintage sound.

The reproduction of the sonic instabilities of old hardware in this plugin transforms a simple sawtooth synth into a swirling string ensemble or a wide analog pad. But the comprehensive controls make it suitable for a wide range of signals from bass or drums to even vocals.

Chorus

Chorus free chorus by kiloHearts

Chorus is a free chorus VST, Audio Unit, AAX plugin developed by kiloHearts. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

Chorus enhances the stereo effect and presence of a sound by mixing it with delayed versions of itself:

  • Delay knob – The average delay for the delayed voices.
  • Rate knob – The frequency of how fast to vary the delay.
  • Depth knob – How much to vary the delay.
  • Spread knob – Stereo width of the effect. A lower value will go towards a mono output.
  • Taps – The number of chorus voices.
  • Mix knob – The dry/wet mix of this effect. A lower value will let some of the unmodified signal through.
  • Settings panel – Whenever you have your mouse cursor over a snapin theree is a small arrow at the top right corner (not visible in screenshot). It opens a settings panel where you handle presets.
  • Enabled checkbox – The small checkbox to the left of the plugin name is a checkbox that bypasses the effect when disabled.
  • Resize handle – The bottom right corner of all Kilohearts plugins is a resize handle for scaling the UI to any size. This allows you to get a good view of the controls whatever the screen resolution, and also comes in handy if you need big controls, e.g. when using Chorus as a real-time effect on a touchscreen monitor during a live set. (This is not available when the snapin is used inside a snapin host.).

Chorus shines on it’s own, but it was primarily created to power up the different “Snapin Hosts” Kilohearts offer. These are bigger effects units that utilize all the available snapins and give you a really fun and creative workflow for combining them in any way you can think of. So have a look at Snap Heap and Multipass right now.

Chorus is also available as a Rack Extension for Reason over at the Propellerhead shop.
