We will not discover you dimensions or technique – where & how we recorded the sounds, but some strange things happened during the sessions.

Some of us had accidents like cutting hand on the microphone (we had to clean a few small blood spots later), in the earphones we heard some sounds that where not there as we listened to the recordings later (maybe some short circuit in cables, maybe not?).

Everything was finished successfully, we are live & well and you have sounds that you can use free for your works, scaring neighborhood or for your pleasure.

Growlybass

Growlybass virtual instrument is a free bass sound bank for Sforzando, by Karoryfer.

A sample library of a Squier Jazz bass guitar. The sustained notes have four round robins and four velocity layers. The staccato notes have one velocity layer and five round robins, and their endings are also used for the key release samples. Everything is sampled every minor third, with the low string also sampled tuned down to C#. Finally, there are some pick scrapes with four round robins. All that adds up to 310 24-bit 44.1 kHz wav samples and a 159 MB download.

Seven different SFZ mappings are included. The samples are recorded direct and processed only with noise reduction, so for a classic bass guitar sound they should be used with an amp simulator. The demo uses the most realistic mapping run through free amp sim and channel strip plugins, followed by the least realistic three-voice mapping run through a sweeping low-pass filter, reverb and compression.

Gratis IR

Gratis IR virtual instrument is a free sound bank for Iris, by Homegrown Sounds.

Gratis IR, as the name suggests, is a completely free collection of pads for iZotope Iris which is equal to half of one of the paid collections. Although some samples are used from the other Iris releases, the actual Iris instruments are all unique to Gratis IR.

The instruments were constructed using 1-3 samples and take full advantage of the spectral features of Iris, and most have Aftertouch assigned to the Filter Cutoff. The intention was to provide musically useful pads full of texture and movement. All 100 WAVs that form the Gratis Sample collection are also available to explore when creating your own sounds:

Garage Foley

Garage Foley is a collection of royalty-free percussion hits and foley sound effects crafted by sound designer Tyler Bajsa. The sound library was created from field recordings that were captured in a garage, with minimal additional processing applied. Game Boy Drum Kit virtual instrument is a free drums sound bank for Kontakt and Sforzando, by Bedroom Producers Blog.

Game Boy Drum Kit is a free drum sample pack featuring the sounds of a black Nintendo Game Boy running LSDJ software. The pack contains 64 unprocessed Game Boy samples in 24-bit WAV format (44.1 kHz), along with a set of NKI and SFZ patches.

The included samples are completely dry and unprocessed, apart from the fact that they’ve been recorded through a compact tube preamp. In addition to the standard selection of 8-bit drum hits, the pack also contains a bonus set of classic chiptune style arpeggios, SFX hits and pulse wave bass samples.
