String Cyborgs

String Cyborgs virtual instrument is a free bass sound bank for Sforzando, by Karoryfer.

The three String Cyborgs – Zinc, Blackheart and Ironface – are a bank for Plogue sforzando. They use the processed and looped sounds of bowed strings (cello and double bass) as oscillators, and place them in a synthesizer architecture with unison, detune, filters and even some humanization parameters. The goal is to create more organic variations of classic analog synthesizer sounds.

Squeaky Chair

Squeaky Chair virtual instrument is a free sound bank for Halion and Kontakt and Exs24 and Garage Band, by Tangent Edge Instruments.

Halloween 2016 freebie: the Squeaky Chair.

The Squeaky Chair is a rare musical instrument and that’s a good thing. It’s really hard to play and it never sounds good, although my student Gabriel Calis did a great job performing for this sample library.

This particular Squeaky Chair is a rotating stool type and the screw thread hasn’t been greased in its whole life. It only has one pitch, the highest A in the virtual version. I mapped it over 5 octaves.

It’s definitely one of the most ugly sounds you will have in your computer and it’s unpredictable like the real thing. I hope you find some use for it.

It works in Kontakt 4 or higher, GarageBand, Logic and free SFZ players like Sforzando.

Sound Sampler

Sound Sampler is a free sample pack and loop pack plugin developed by DNR Collaborative. Compatible OS(s): Any OS.

Sound Sampler 01 is a free sample library featuring samples and loops from the Sound Repository.

DNR Collaborative explain that the Sound Sampler is aimed at providing users with a free package of sounds to demonstrate what their Sound Repository is about. The package contains everything from female vocal clips to drum loops to voice hits and long, drawn out textures. The entire package is 1.02GB uncompressed and contains 1,840 individual samples and loops. The package can either be downloaded all at once as a ZIP file, or individually per folder.

Content License

The Sound Sampler is also licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license, meaning that you can remix and sell sounds created with the contents of the Sound Sampler.

Simply Space

Simply Space virtual instrument is a free sound bank for Kontakt, by 99Sounds.

Simply Space is a free collection of melodic pad hits and background sonic textures crafted by Nigel Good. The sound library was designed to blend perfectly with all typical chords for a given key, making it possible to layer the included sounds underneath any given chord progression, melody or riff.

The samples are provided in the keys of C and G, however they can easily be transposed to different keys simply by tuning up or down. It’s also worth noting that the included sounds can be transformed into tension builders and classic EDM style build-up sounds simply by being reversed in an audio editor.
