Canjo

Canjo virtual instrument is a free canjo and banjo sound bank for Kontakt, by Embertone.

Embertone’s Canjo is a free instrument for Kontakt FULL (not the player) 4.2.4+. It is a buzzy, twangy, single-stringed instrument with a lot of personality.

The main instrument includes three articulations: fingered, picked, and muted. There are also lots of round robins and dynamic layers, which makes the instrument feel very natural.

What exactly is a Canjo? This might help (from Henry Hoover’s dedicated Canjo website):

A Canjo is a single string musical instrument. It is held like a guitar but may also be played on a table or lap. The neck is made of furniture grade kiln dried hard wood hand rubbed with boiled linen seed oil. On the neck fretted diatonically (like a dulcimer including a 6-1/2 fret) are twelve notes or finger positions.

Break Geek DNB Lite

Break Geek DNB Lite is a free drum loop pack and drum sample pack by THEPHONOLOOP.

Break Geek DNB is our first product in a new series of drum & percussion loops (+ one shots) inspired by vintage drum breaks. This one is aimed for Drum’n’Bass producers but there’s a lot of material which you could easily incorporate into other music genres. Especially if you prefer to chop samples instead of using them as a whole loops.

It’s obvious that our loops weren’t created in the 60s or 70s like most of the classic breaks but our stuff has one main advantage over those gems from the past: it’s all new, original and never heard before material, which is easy to work with because it was created with music producer’s needs in mind. A lot of attention went into sound design part of this project to make it sound as real as possible. It’s also important to mention that you won’t find here any over-saturated or flat, over-compressed sounds – there’s plenty of headroom left for additional sound design.

The library contains 80 drum loops divided into 10 folders. Every folder contains 4 loop variations (patterns), further divided into ‘Mix’ and ‘No Kick’ version of the drum loop. Additionally Break Geek DNB series contains percussion loops which are divided into two folders: ‘Individual’ (bongos loops, congas loops, shaker loops, tamb loops & udu loops) and ‘Mixed’. If your DAW of choice is supporting ACID and / or Apple Loops files (like most modern DAW’s do) then all those loops will automatically sync to the tempo of your session. You’ll also find here 90 one shot samples divided into 6 categories: kick, snare, hihat, perc, shaker & crash.

There’s a free version of this sample pack available (Break Geek DNB Lite) which contains 10% of the full version, so feel free to download it and check for yourself if it’s a product for you.

BPB Cassette 808 virtual instrument is a free drums sound bank for Kontakt, by Bedroom Producers Blog.

BPB Cassette 808 is a free collection of Roland TR-808 drum machine samples in 24-bit WAV format. The sounds were recorded by Gregor Zemljic in his mastering studio, passed through a high end signal chain and enhanced with a subtle LF boost. An additional set of drum hits that were re-sampled from an audio cassette deck is also included, providing a different take on the classic 808 drum sound.

The pack contains a set of three instrument patches for NI Kontakt 5. These NKI patches feature a simple customized user interface providing direct access to the low-pass filter, envelope, reverb and delay controls.

Ambiguous Guitar Duo

Remember that song where you couldn’t tell if an instrument is a guitar or a piano?

Neither do I.

But now you will no longer forget. Because now, you can make your own confusing music.

Using the magic of phase alignment, we tried to answer the curious question of what would happen if you align samples grabbed from different instruments. And with the excellent samples of FlameStudios, FreePats, Patch Arena and bigcat Instruments, we present this one of a kind amalgamation of five different instruments squashed into a bass and a guitar. Well, sort of. Whatever, the outcome is, it is called the Ambiguous Guitar Duo.
