OttoPhormant

OttoPhormant free filter by Music Unfolding

OttoPhormant is a free filter Audio Unit plugin developed by Music Unfolding. Compatible OS(s): macOS.

OttoPhormant is a wah effect based on morphing formant filters. It can be controlled using touch-triggered sweeps or envelope tracking. The filters can also be controlled using MIDI expression control.

There are 10 formant or vowel types available. The effect works by selecting three vowel sounds – start, middle and end – and morphing from one vowel to the next. There are 10 possible vowels that can be used in each of the three locations.

The formants are created by three filters. The filters can be either bandpass or a combination of two bandpass and one lowpass. The bandpass settings are similar to a traditional wah pedal. The filters are a special combination of Music Unfolding’s multi-stage driven filter. You can choose from 1, 2, 3, and 4 stage filters. You also have control of the resonance and drive for the filters. There’s a lot of control for setting up just how you want this effect to talk to you.

OttoPhilter

OttoPhilter free filter by Music Unfolding

OttoPhilter is a free filter Audio Unit plugin developed by Music Unfolding. Compatible OS(s): macOS.

OttoPhilter is an auto/touch wah filter with LFO control and sub-octave generation and a second auto/touch wah filter on the sub-octave. There’s a level meter tied to the touch wah sensitivity to help you adjust OttoPhilter to suit your playing dynamics. OttoPhilter has two driven resonant filter sections – one on the input signal and one for the generated sub-octave. The filters sweep by using triggered envelopes or tracking the input signal or using LFOs.

NyquistEq

NyquistEq free eq by Smart Electronix

NyquistEq is a free equalizer VST plugin developed by Smart Electronix. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

By Magnus @ Smart Electronix.

NyquistEq is a paragraphic equalizer that does not suffer from the treble warping that most digital equalizers do. Also it never clicks, and it handles deep bass well.

The reason it’s called NyquistEq is because it’s designed to be a filter that sounds good all the way up to the Nyquist frequency (if sampling rate is 44.1 kHz then nyquist is at 22.05 kHz).

Noisebud Filter

Noisebud Filter free filter by Noisebud

Noisebud Filter is a free filter VST plugin developed by Noisebud. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Noisebud Filter consists of 4 filters (or 16, depending on how you look upon it), they are switchable between Lo pass, hi pass, band pass and band reject filter.

The signals from the four filters are wired in a parallel chain. Every filter can be controlled by three different LFOs where one is tempo-synced; one normal and one extremely slow (a sLoFO).

The LFO sections also have something Noisebud call VariFO. It adds another movement to the LFO and makes it less predictable.

Every filter has an invert button so that you can silence frequencies that collide during heavy LFO movements, this and the VariFO is probably what make Noisebud filter special.

Neutrino

Neutrino free eq | dynamic by iZotope

Neutrino is a free eq and dynamic VST, VST3, Audio Unit, RTAS, AAX plugin developed by iZotope. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b, macOS.

Neutrino is a free spectral shaping plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows.

Neutrino can be used to to reveal subtle amounts of detail that can elevate great mixes to a new level of refinement, say iZotope. The user can add balance and focus to their mixes by applying it to every track or the major mix buses (just like analog summing or console emulations).

Neutrino includes 4 modes, tailored to specific instrument types:

  1. Voice: Adds clarity and detail to help vocals sit on top of the mix.
  2. Instrument: Preserves the authentic character of the instrument.
  3. Bass: Adds punch and weight to electric, acoustic, and synth basses.
  4. Drums: Emphasizes transient detail to avoid “muddy” mixes.

Naive LPF

Naive LPF free filter by Admiral Quality

Naive LPF is a free filter VST plugin developed by Admiral Quality. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Naive LPF is a resonant low-pass filter with envelope follower. It has been developed to closely model the way some real world analog circuits work, as opposed to some other techniques which, while well adapted to the math processing power of a computer, just don’t seem to render the same organic feel. Not to say that those techniques aren’t just as valid, but Admiral Quality was aiming for a vintage, analog feel with Naive LPF.

NOTE: Its creation is primarily as a test-bed for a full soft-synth Admiral Quality have planned.

Features:

  • Cutoff Frequency: Continually variable, from far above the sample rate of your host down to 0 Hz.
  • 4 Stages: Selecting the number of Stages adjusts the cutoff slope of the filter. More stages make a steeper slope.
  • Resonance: Enhances frequencies near the cutoff by feeding the inverted output signal back into the input. The resonance can be set high enough that this filter will enter self-oscillation and produce very loud signals, even without any input signal present.
  • Envelope Follower: Vary the cutoff frequency in response to the dynamics of the input signal, creating “auto-wah” type effects. With Attack and Release controls.
  • HPF Mode: Subtracts the low-pass filter’s output from the original input, providing a high-pass filter effect.
  • Output Saturation: Reduce excessive peaks back below 0 dB.
  • 6 input / 6 output channels. Each channel has its own independent filter with envelope follower.
