Dust Equalizer

Dust Equalizer free eq by Signaldust

Dust Equalizer is a free equalizer VST plugin developed by Signaldust. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Dust Equalizer is a basic channel equalizer, designed with the concept of less is more.

It comes with a pair of filters, pair of shelves and two mid-frequency bell filters. Using a fitting method to approximate analog-like response, each band keeps it’s shape gracefully all the way to the highest of audible frequencies.

The filters have a standard Butterworth shape for flat passband without significant ringing. The shelves feature a custom, asymmetric design with a sharper knee towards the mid-frequencies and a more gradual shape towards the high or low frequencies.

The bell filters have classic log-symmetric shape, but feature gain-bandwidth interaction such that actual peak gain is higher for narrow bandwidth and becomes less as the bandwidth is increased. This maintains approximately even perceptible boost or cut as the width of the bells is varied.

Since 1.7.0 it no longer relies on any oversampling, and attempts to match the analog target also in terms of the phase-response.

DuckEQ

DuckEQ free eq by HeelAudio

DuckEQ is a free equalizer Audio Unit plugin developed by HeelAudio. Compatible OS(s): macOS.

DuckEQ is an Equaliser that reacts to a side chain input, or in other words a Ducker that can act on specific frequencies. However, it can also work as a normal Ducker or as a dynamic EQ.

What is it good for?

Ducking has many applications in mixing and broadcast, especially for managing tracks with overlapping frequency content, like Bass and Kick Drum, Vocals and Electric Guitars etc. DuckEQ’s integration of EQ means it can duck only specific frequency bands, as well as normal ‘broadband’ ducking. Apart from ducking, there are many other applications that DuckEQ can be used, for example instead of ducking a signal, one could apply gain to the EQ bands and “EQ-Gate”.

What’s the difference to using a compressor?

In many cases a Compressor with a SC input can do the job, however specialised duckers have more control over the gain reduction. For example, when ducking a guitar from vocal, a compressor will reduce the guitars more on loud words and less on quiet ones, which is the opposite of what is desired. A ducker reduces the gain the same amount every time.

DtBlkFx

DtBlkFx free multi-fx | eq | filter | vocoder | pitch-shifter | delay | distortion | flanger | phaser by Darrell Tam

DtBlkFx is a free multi fx and eq and filter and vocoder and pitch shifter and delay and distortion and flanger and phaser VST plugin developed by Darrell Tam. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

DtBlkFx is a Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT) spectral processing plug-in.

Features:

Precision parametric equalizing with sharp-roll off:

  • Set the frequencies so accurately that you can adjust individual harmonics of a sound.
  • Frequency resolutions of up to 0.7 Hz.

Harmonic based (or comb) filtering:

  • Set a fundamental frequency and adjust the level of it and its harmonics – you can even remove the pitched component of a voice.
  • Active harmonic tracking – let DtBlkFx automatically track a sound and adjust the level of its harmonics.

Various types of noise control:

  • Change the “contrast” between loud and soft frequency components.
  • Adjust only those frequencies below or above a particular threshold.
  • Clip frequencies above a particular threshold.
  • Sound smearing (phase randomizing).

Frequency shifting:

  • Harmonic shifting by a fixed number of notes.
  • Non-harmonic shifting by a fixed frequency.
  • Active harmonic repitch – the content of your sound is monitored and re-pitched to a destination note.

Vocoding:

  • Standard (frequency enveloping) – make your trumpet rap, string section sing or synthesizer talk.
  • Harmonic based – harmonics in one channel are power-matched to those in the other (or some predefined waveforms) for a new vocoding sound.

Frequency masking:

  • A harmonic or threshold mask may be set for any effect (apart from vocoding) – for example only shift frequencies that are below the threshold.

Realtime spectrogram (waterfall) display of input and output sounds:

  • See what frequency components are in your sound and exactly what you’ve done.
  • Use your mouse to see the note & frequency under the pointer.

You can select up to 4 of the above effects to be run in series – combining the effects in this way allows you to make completely new and surprising sounds.

DtBlkFx is freely distributable and is covered by the terms of the GNU licensing agreement. Source code is included.

Daft Funk

Daft Funk free glitch | pitch-shifter | filter by KlangLabs

Daft Funk is a free glitch and pitch shifter and filter VST plugin developed by KlangLabs. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Daft Funk is a “Glitch accelerator”.

Features:

  • X-Y panel: X controls speed, Y controls LowPass Filter and volume optionally.
  • Mode: “Pitched” means the wave will be resampled as speed is being modulated; “Grainy” means the wave will not change pitch but the grains will change size as speed is being modulated.
  • Sync mode: “BPM” or “Free”.
  • Note subdivision selector.
  • Y->Vol (Y value to Volume) button.
  • Zero – X: Useful only in “Grainy” mode; this parameter is useful to avoid clicks, but if you want to go very fast you better untick this option, otherwise you’ll hear an artifact in where the pitch transitions aren’t smooth on very high frequencies.
  • X and Y spring buttons: Enable disable spring release on them.
  • Smooth knob: This smoothes out the X and Y values, high values result on slow response to quick movements, useful to make slow sweeps such as on one famous Daft Punk song.
  • Grain size knob: When in “Free” mode (opposed to BPM) you can specify the grain size here.

CombOver

CombOver free filter by runagate

CombOver is a free filter VST plugin developed by runagate. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

CombOver is an FSU effect based on Comb Filters. Unlike a normal comb filter effect CombOver is trying too hard to cover up the naked pate of boring audio. Unlike those old FSU fx this one is understandable, programmable and doesn’t explode with feedback. But similarly otherworldly, wet or electric, exploding or glitchy and twitching sounds are possible with CombOver.

CombOver features delay times controlled by pitch detection and harmonic overtone series slider bank modulated by a step sequencer, a vector mixing X/Y pad top select amongst the delay times of four different harmonic-modulated delay times and a harmonic mix control to blend in harmonics with the root pitch-controlled comb filter. There are five comb filters in all.

Features:

  • 5 modulated comb filters.
  • Comb filter time modulation provided by input audio pitch detection.
  • 16 graphical sliders to choose 16 harmonic overtones for modulation source.
  • 16-step sequencer to modulate selected harmonic overtone for time modulation.
  • X/Y joystick-controlled vector mixer to blend between 4 harmonically-modulated comb filters.
  • A variety of tempo-synced beat division choices for the sequencer.
  • Stereo peak hold control on the pitch detector to ensure sensible pitch detection from stereo inputs, also acts as modulation smoothing envelope.
  • Pitch detection octave selection control.
