disPRESSA is a distortion powered compressor. It’s not a normal math modelled compressor – no threshold, ratio, or knee controls. Instead, disPRESSA uses overdrive as its method of compression. The input channel is overdriven and then measured. Its level is then used to set the level of the clean output channel. The more distortion is piled on, and the higher the contour control, the more the signal is compressed.
It has controls for:
- Drive.
- Contour.
- Make-up.
- Attack.
- Release.
- Sidechain Filter.
- Distortion model.

DimSong creates custom remixes of music in real-time, controlling the intensity and density of songs based on touch, movement and light input.
The app operates in 3 modes of input:
- Shake: The music reacts to the user’s movements as they dance, workout, or flick the device.
- Light: DimSong uses the camera to detect the amount of light in the user’s surroundings and adjust the audio accordingly, functioning as a “musical dimmer switch” where more light means more intensity in the music.
- Touch: An on-screen slider lets the user control the mix manually.
DimSong comes with 3 exclusive, interactive remixes, and additional tracks are available for purchase from the in-app store. The company says that new music will be added on a regular basis.

DepthCharge is a compressor plug-in with analogue VU meters and a dimpled metal background. Designed specifically for tracking though it can be used in the master bus chain.
7AIR primarily uses it for drums, guitar and vocals, though it can be used for pretty much anything you throw at it, curbing some high frequencies on synths and pads for example.

DC1A is the little brother of Klanghelm’s upcoming compression monster DC8C. I’ve taken one of my favorite settings from DC8C and tried to make it work in a two control context. Soundwise it’s comparable to the PUNCH mode in DC8C.
I’ve always wanted to do a compressor with just an input and output knob, a compressor that just works: gentle, grateful, from almost invisible, smooth leveling to heavy pumping with a nice crunchy saturation and punchy enough to treat drums with.
DC1A looks like a one trick pony. But don’t get fooled by lack of further controls. You may be surprised, on how many different material this little thing works. DC1A is heavily program dependent.
