IterativeSinCluster

IterativeSinCluster is a free software synthesizer developed by Uhhyou. Available format(s): VST3 for Windows 64b, macOS, Linux.

Note: Currently Linux build doesn’t display GUI due to some problem related to VSTGUI. For Linux, LV2 version is available at https://github.com/ryukau/LV2Plugins.

Note: I don’t have mac so macOS build is not tested. If you find bug, please report it to https://github.com/ryukau/VSTPlugins.

IterativeSinCluster is an additive synthesizer. This synth computes 512 sine waves per note to make tone cluster. I somehow thought “iterative sin” is a valid term. Correct term is “recursive sine”.

The number 512 come from 16 overtone * 8 note * 4 chord.

Gain envelope uses typical exponential curve. It implements a heuristic method to reduce click noise when attack/release time is very short. Attack curve can be changed.

There are several parameters to control sine wave frequency:

Semitone and Milli. 1 milli is 1 / 1000 semitone = 1 / 10 cent.

Up to 16th overtone.

Frequency multiplication and modulo.

Equal temperament control to change the amount of semitone.

Pitch randomization can be used to make some nice unison or detuned sounds.

Chorus is added to compensate the lack of modulation. It has 3 delays inside. Key follow can be used to automatically change delay time to follow note frequency.

One downside is that note frequency can’t be changed during note on. This is due to the limitation of iterative sin algorithm, which is fast only if the frequency is constant.

Ironhead:Spawn

Ironhead:Spawn is a free drum machine VST plugin developed by Ugo. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Ironhead:Spawn is a bundle of 13 individual polyphonic synths, built from mutated versions of the original Ironhead synthetic junk yard percussion kit instruments. They have grown, taken on lives of their own, and have been modified to be played across the keyboard like “normal” instruments. Their sound design abilities have expanded and they’ve been altered for a greater balance between percussive and melodic instruments, opening up a wide variety of sounds that are not possible with the original Ironhead, but while maintaining the unique Ironhead character and complimenting the original kit.

Kicks, snares, hats, cymbals, bells, rubbery basses, plucked strings, knocks, bonks, metallic smacks, tuned percussion, weird morphed noises… you can make entire pieces of music just using this bundle. The best way to think of the difference between Ironhead and Ironhead:Spawn is that Ironhead is a drum kit and Ironhead:Spawn is a whole band.

Iridesynths Revenge is a free software synthesizer developed by NOVUZEIT. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

Iridesynth is a stereo virtual analog subtractive synth designed to provide “entertainingly unique tones” with fast and simple programming. It is capable of strong classic analog sounds, retro vintage video game arpeggios and other useful traditional tones as well as “futuristic unheard of sounds”.

Iridesynth features Additive Feedback Harmonics, self-modulating LFO parameters, multiple ADSRs, and seven range octave support.
