Cantabile 3 is a complete, ground-up rebuild of the entire product and incorporates feedback from hundreds of musicians making it the best Cantabile yet. Everything from the audio engine to the user-interface and everything in between has been re-imagined, re-designed and re-engineered.

Cantabile is a powerful host for virtual instruments and effects with an emphasis on real-time performance and use in live performance situations:

Play: Play VST instruments and process audio effects in real-time. Plug-ins can be connected in series to form racks and multiple racks can be run concurrently with each delivering a different sound or instrument. Racks can also be connected together to apply common effects to multiple instruments.

Perform: For live performance, Cantabile’s song state and pre-loaded set list support can be used to instantly switch songs. Most settings can be controlled remotely using MIDI bindings and everything can be kept in sync with MIDI clock support.

Record: Cantabile’s audio and MIDI recorders can be used for automatic or manual recording.

Cannabis Vocoder

Cannabis Vocoder is a free vocoder VST plugin developed by Bitsonic. Compatible OS(s): Windows 64b.

Cannabis vocoder is a funny plugin which can completely change the sound of your vocal track. The mono version is an effect plugin, meaning it’s not a VST instruments. Using the effect on the vocal track the software automatically tracks the tune of the vocal track, and calculates the pitch of the changed sound as well.

The poly version is a VST instruments application, where you can load the vocal track into the software and using the MIDI channel you can create a polyphonic vocoder.

Interface:

Octave/Semitone: You can change the pitch here. If you change the value of the octave you can create various, interesting sounds – even within the same vocoder tone.

Attack: Changes the reaction time of the vocoder.

Original: Dashes the altered sound with the original sounding.

Vocoder: Changes the volume of the vocoder, but the original sound stays the same.

File: Saves or loads your personal settings.

Voice/Groove: If you use the mono version, you can use the specific sound of the vocoder for grooves, drums. In this case I suggest changing the switch button to groove mode, so the pitch extraction works on fix pitch.

Load: Loads a new wav file.

Menu: You can choose from 25 different tones.

Canjo

Canjo virtual instrument is a free canjo and banjo sound bank for Kontakt, by Embertone.

Embertone’s Canjo is a free instrument for Kontakt FULL (not the player) 4.2.4+. It is a buzzy, twangy, single-stringed instrument with a lot of personality.

The main instrument includes three articulations: fingered, picked, and muted. There are also lots of round robins and dynamic layers, which makes the instrument feel very natural.

What exactly is a Canjo? This might help (from Henry Hoover’s dedicated Canjo website):

A Canjo is a single string musical instrument. It is held like a guitar but may also be played on a table or lap. The neck is made of furniture grade kiln dried hard wood hand rubbed with boiled linen seed oil. On the neck fretted diatonically (like a dulcimer including a 6-1/2 fret) are twelve notes or finger positions.

The instrument includes an arpeggiator that will infuse an awesome rhythm into your music.

Cabbage is a framework for audio software development. Using simple markup text and the Csound audio synthesis language users can target Windows, OS X, Linux and Android with a single piece of source code.

bx_solo is a tool that Brainworx designed to get you started with, and used to, the way they approach the M/S technique – be it for recording-, mixing- or mastering purposes. The “heart” of their M/S tools are the Solo Buttons that allow you to actually listen to all components of a stereo mix / stereo signal individually:

L(left channel), R(ight channel), M(ono sum) & S(tereo difference signal) – all phase corrected (when needed) and mono-ed out on both speakers of your system. This is helpful when working in M/S modes and to check your signals / mixes for errors, noises, clicks, whatever…
