Deelay

DC1A is the little brother of Klanghelm’s upcoming compression monster DC8C. I’ve taken one of my favorite settings from DC8C and tried to make it work in a two control context. Soundwise it’s comparable to the PUNCH mode in DC8C.

I’ve always wanted to do a compressor with just an input and output knob, a compressor that just works: gentle, grateful, from almost invisible, smooth leveling to heavy pumping with a nice crunchy saturation and punchy enough to treat drums with.

DC1A looks like a one trick pony. But don’t get fooled by lack of further controls. You may be surprised, on how many different material this little thing works. DC1A is heavily program dependent.

DavoSynth

DavoSynth is a free software synthesizer developed by Elektrostudio. Available format(s): VST for Windows.

DavoSynth is inspired by Davolisint (a rare Italian keyboard created in 1972). It shares the same architecture as original, which lacks most of the features we’d expect from even a basic synth. There are two oscillators called VCO1 and VCO2 – but there are no waveform selection, syncing options or envelopes. So, what do we have? One Portamento and fine tune per oscillator and the heart of the synth – four sliders with vibrato effect and 7 different footings available at the same time (32′, 16′, 8′, 4′, 2′, 1′, and 1/2′). There’s also a lever called “extend” which is an up-only pitch bend, not unlike the Yamaha CS-01 for example, as well as chorus and delay effect.
