moot is a flexible audio mute plugin with a number of additional features. The aim is to have a mute switch (Hit Me) that can be assigned to a single MIDI keyboard key and act in 3 ways:

As a latch (one press mute, release stays muted, next press unmute, release stays unmuted).

In default mode (hold down to mute, release to play audio).

In invert mode (hold down to play audio, release to mute).

The minimum and maximum volume can be set so that as well as muting, moot can act as a switch between a high and low volume. In addition there is an audio gate to chop the audio and a smooth control to add a small attack/decay between changes.

monoLOW

monoLOW is a free stereo imaging VST plugin developed by whiteLABEL. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

monoLOW is a “low band conformance machine”. monoLOW is just about the simplest tool going. The lower its frequency, the more a sound loses its directionality. It sometimes makes little sense for frequencies below a certain point to be spread across a stereo mix – a stereo bottom-end can cause a loss of focus. Enter monoLOW.

2 simple controls allow mono-izing of the low band: “frequency” below which all is mono, and a “cut / gain” control for level. Audition and defeat buttons are also present.

A free version that stops working for 5 seconds every 5 minutes is also available (the full version doesn’t do this, obviously).

Monokey

Monokey is a free studio tools VST plugin developed by Daniel Kahlin. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

MonoKey is a free VST Module Architecture 1.0 MIDI plugin that emulates fingered portamento for synths.

Many older synthesizers (for example Roland’s Alpha Juno-1/2) only offers a portamento switch to turn portamento on or off. When it is on, all notes will have portamento, even single notes. MonoKey will enable fingered portamento, i.e. portamento will only be active for notes that overlap. It does so by selectively sending standard MIDI portamento on/off controller messages. For this to work effectively, your synth should be in monophonic or unison mode.

NOTE: VST Module Architecture is only currently supported in Steinberg’s Cubase SX and Nuendo. Just drop the .dll file in the sequencer’s Components folder.
