Phase Seq

Phase Seq free midi-controller by xoxos

Phase Seq is a free midi controller VST plugin developed by xoxos. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Phase Seq easily generates unquantised looping MIDI sequences that are more difficult to achieve in some hosts. Up to eight events are triggered at manually set phase positions and three columns of sliders are dedicated to modulating the position of each trigger by the LFOs.

The immediate application would be for loose timing variation, or special effect sequences, like speeding up or slowing down, or for sequences with erratic timing. Some more subtle timing effects are possible, e.g. by scaling the effect of an LFO on each step (as pictured on the screenshot) the LFO will stretch and condense the beginning of the sequence elastically. LFOs may be synced to different host rates to create complex repeating patterns.

Phase Seq is designed to run lightly on CPU to accommodate the use of multiple instances.

Period Seq

Period Seq free midi-controller by xoxos

Period Seq is a free midi controller VST plugin developed by xoxos. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

Period Seq is a simple algorithmic MIDI generator that applies four counters to two clocks and four reset rates. It can produce non-repeating or complex, structured feeling sequences automatically. The GUI is designed for applying performance variations in use.

Each counter normally creates MIDI notes at a regular periodic interval after being reset. Counters can be used to reset other counters, so that modulating the selection of clocks and reset rates applied to each counter can produce complex variation in the output. LFOs can also be reset periodically for sequencing contour effects.

Period Seq is appropriate for experimental applications and sequencing percussion.

Modulor

Modulor free midi-controller by Percussa

Modulor is a free midi controller plugin developed by Percussa. Compatible OS(s): Windows, macOS.

Modulor is an application developed specifically for the Percussa AudioCubes hardware. It lets you record, loop, process and assemble musical information, to quickly develop musical ideas. The software works with your existing MIDI keyboard and controllers, professional audio interface (CoreAudio or ASIO) and virtual instruments (VSTi or AU).

Modulor is one of the first applications capable of detecting and communicating with a network of AudioCubes wirelessly, through a single cabled AudioCube. Loops in the software can be easily put together by putting their physical representation together (AudioCubes). Powerful MIDI effects are available to process the recorded or live MIDI information.

Modulor is primarily intended to develop musical ideas, by recording initial loops and input from your favourite MIDI controller, and assembling and processing those using the AudioCubes hands-on hardware interface.

Features:

  • AudioCubes-controlled modular sequencing environment.
  • Controllable with up to 15 AudioCubes.
  • MIDI effects for processing incoming MIDI input (keyboard/MIDI controllers).
  • AudioCubes sensors to VSTi parameter routing.
  • One Loop Sequencer per AudioCube.
  • One MIDI effect with one variation per cube face per AudioCube.
  • Hosting of up to 6 VSTi or AU instruments.
  • Save your work as Standard MIDI File for use in your favourite DAW.
  • Metronome function.

MiSUCO – Microtonal Touch Controller

MiSUCO - Microtonal Touch Controller free software-synthesizer | midi-controller | education by misuco.org

MiSUCO – Microtonal Touch Controller is a free software synthesizer and midi controller developed by misuco.org. Available format(s): for iOS.

osc (Open Sound Control) /MIDI controller with musical scale generator and simple synthesizer.

Experience microtonal tuning in a way that was never available before.

Explore the universe of musical scales and microtonal tunings on the built in synth or on any external synth that you can connect trough wlan and a computer. The MISUCO app has interfaces to common music software such as Max/MSP, Reaktor, puredata, supercollider. You can also control a conventional MIDI keyboard, if you have a computer with a MIDI interface. MISUCO is able to translate arbitrary frequencies into MIDI note number and pitch values.

The MISUCO software can also be used as a versatile touchscreen keyboard and controller and enables a maximum of the available screen for your performance.

What is microtonality?

In music normally we divide one octave in seven to twelve steps. You can see this on a piano, which has a repeating pattern of seven white and five black keys. One form of microtonal tuning divides one octave in 1200 steps called cents. This system is used to explain fine tunings of instruments. Another form is to pull the strings of an instrument. Then the note is detuned to some frequency between the scale. This form of playing is essential in classical Indian music but also widely found in many other music playing styles.

How can you experience microtonality with MISUCO?

With the MISUCO software you can play with and experience these ways of microtonality. You can translate microtonality to regular MIDI instruments, using the free software puredata on your WLAN equipped computer: MISUCO has a microtonal scale tuner, which lets you tune each note on an octave in cent steps. Then it has a microtonal mode (mm) that blurs the frequency space between the scale and you can play the frequencies between, like pulling a string of an instrument. If you do not like to use any external equipment and software, MISUCO has a simple but powerful built in synthesizer.

Last but not least MISUCO is a browser to the newly founded scales.misuco.org online scales archive. With one click on the ?-key you get directed to the page related to the current scale on your MISUCO where you can discuss, share and read about that scale.

Be aware that this app is mainly designed for tablets and running it on a device with smaller screen than 10″ requires good eyes and tiny fingers.

FAQ: I hear no sound:

  • Make sure your phone is not muted and the volume is up.
  • Press long, some sound have require some attack time.
  • Make sure you have at least version 1.01 installed.

I wish you much inspiration, creativity, self development, fun and inner peace with MISUCO.

If you like the project, please support further developments through our website misuco.org

MiniSeries is a free midi controller VST plugin developed by xoxos. Compatible OS(s): Windows.

MiniSeries is a MIDI sequencer inspired by serial composition techniques. It is intended for rhythmic and experimental applications and geared towards live use.

Eight MIDI note assignments are indexed by a counter, which is modulated by three LFOs, two random step modulators and several performance-oriented GUI controls.

The multi-trigger element from Circuit VSTi creates rhythmic articulations and can be controlled from the GUI or by modulators.

Series VSTi expands on the architecture of MiniSeries.
